The National Weather Service in Morristown has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
West Central Russell County in southwestern Virginia...
East Central Wise County in southwestern Virginia...

* Until 1215 AM EDT.

* At 952 PM EDT, Major flooding and Water Rescues continue in Dante,
Virginia. Up to 3 inches of rain have fallen. Even though the rain
has ended life threatening flash flooding continues.

The following streams are experiencing major flooding: Left Fork
Lick Creek, Right Fork Lick Creek, and Lick Creek.  Lick Creek flows
toward Saint Paul. Flooding along the Lick Creek near Saint Paul is
expected.  Move to high ground.


HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Great deal of runoff
from the recent heavy rains will continue to produce
flash flooding.

SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Cleveland Va, Coeburn, St. Paul and Castlewood.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of east Tennessee, including the following areas,
Campbell, Claiborne, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson, Northwest Carter,
Scott TN and Sullivan and southwest Virginia, including the
following areas, Lee, Russell, Scott VA, Washington VA and Wise.

* WHEN...Until midnight EDT tonight.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Heavy downpours over already saturated ground and repetitive
rounds of rain over the same locations may lead to flash
flooding this afternoon and evening.
