East Central Wise County in southwestern Virginia... * Until 1215 AM EDT. * At 952 PM EDT, Major flooding and Water Rescues continue in Dante, Virginia. Up to 3 inches of rain have fallen. Even though the rain has ended life threatening flash flooding continues. The following streams are experiencing major flooding: Left Fork Lick Creek, Right Fork Lick Creek, and Lick Creek. Lick Creek flows toward Saint Paul. Flooding along the Lick Creek near Saint Paul is expected. Move to high ground. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Great deal of runoff from the recent heavy rains will continue to produce flash flooding. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Cleveland Va, Coeburn, St. Paul and Castlewood. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
